This or That

It’s the warm-up game: no long reading, no setup, just two words and a gut reaction. Alone, blast through the pairs and see where the community landed. With friends, one person reads both options and everybody shouts their pick at the same time — hesitating is suspicious. In a Party Room, each player answers on their own phone and the split appears for everyone at once. On a date or with your partner, it’s a cheap way to discover you disagree about breakfast, which is a serious matter.

Intensities

  • FamilyGrandma-proof
  • FunSilly, never awkward
  • AwkwardCringe and embarrassing
  • HardProvocative, uncomfortable
  • Spicy 18+Adults only

Levels 5 and 6 are for adults only: you confirm you are 18 or older before they are dealt.

Questions

How is This or That different from Would You Rather?

Speed. Would You Rather gives you two full scenarios to agonise over; This or That gives you two words — beach or mountains, texting or calling — and wants an answer on instinct.

Is it good for a first date?

It’s one of the easiest icebreakers there is: nothing personal to start with, and the low levels stay light. Turn the intensity up only if the date is going very well.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account. The Spicy level is 18+ and sits behind an age confirmation; part of it is free and the full 18+ deck comes with the Games Pass (one-time purchase, also included in Wabiro+).
