How the Yellow Flag Test works

The Yellow Flag Test measures small, context-dependent habits that can create friction or hesitation in dating. It does not judge a person or decide whether a relationship is safe.

Questions and dimensions

Version 1 has 16 self-report statements: two each for Overthinking, Fast Forward, Mixed Signal, People Pleasing, Conflict Dodging, Closed Book, Boundary Blur and Past Echo. Each answer is worth 0–3 points (not like me at all, a little like me, mostly like me, very much like me). All questions have equal weight.

Yellow Index

For each dimension, the two answer values are added and divided by 6, then multiplied by 100 and rounded to one decimal. The eight dimension scores have equal weight. Their mean, rounded to the nearest integer, is the Yellow Index from 0 to 100. The displayed ranges are: 0–19 GREEN-ISH; 20–39 PALE YELLOW; 40–59 HIGHLIGHTER YELLOW; 60–79 CAUTION TAPE; 80–100 CONSTRUCTION ZONE. Endpoints are inclusive.

Archetype and tie rule

The highest-scoring dimension selects the archetype. If two or more dimensions tie, the first in this stable order wins: Overthinking, Fast Forward, Mixed Signal, People Pleasing, Conflict Dodging, Closed Book, Boundary Blur, Past Echo. No random selection or percentile is used. The same answers always produce the same index, band and archetype.

What it can and cannot say

These are entertainment labels for behaviours, not identities. A yellow flag is a prompt for attention or conversation, not proof of harm or a dealbreaker. The quiz is not therapy, a clinical assessment or professional relationship advice. Privacy and version

Individual answers stay in browser storage and are not sent to analytics. If you create a challenge share, Wabiro stores only the result summary needed to show the card; a friend never receives your answers. Version 1 uses 16 questions, eight equal dimensions, five index bands and the fixed tie order above.
